Getting Started with XWIS

So, for those of you who have purchased Command and Conquer - The Ultimate Collection or just stumbled across that ancient Red Alert 2 CD, here's a small guide to getting started with XWIS (as the online play is no longer managed by Westwood Online).

Install Red Alert 2

Probably the most obvious part; you'll need Red Alert 2 installed (and a valid serial key) in order to continue.

XWIS Account

In order to play online you'll need to create an XWIS account first, so head over to XWIS and create an account.

XWIS Game Account

Head over to the XWIS Game Account Login page and, using the details you entered in the previous step, sign in to your XWIS Game Account.

Create a Red Alert 2 Nick

To connect to XWIS through Red Alert 2 successfully, you'll need to have linked your game to XWIS. To do this, click on Create Nick and select Red Alert 2 from the list. From here you'll be able to create your desired in-game alias/name and verify ownership of Red Alert 2 by providing a valid serial key. You'll then be provided with a Game Password which you'll need to use to login to XWIS from Red Alert 2.

Connect to XWIS from Red Alert 2

Once you've created a username and have your Game Password handy, fire up Red Alert 2 and click on Internet from the menu, followed by Custom Match and enter the details mentioned above.
